Solution is homogeneous mixture of two or more components or substances,It consist of 2-parts solution and solvent.
-The component which is present in large proportion is termed as the solvent. It is usually in the same physical state as the solution.
-The component which is present in smaller proportion is called the solute.
# A solution may be classsified as- 1.Gaseous solution exp- Air is the mixture of so many gases.
2.Liquid Solution exp.Sugar and Nacl dissolved in water.
3.Solid Solution exp.Amalgams and alloys.
Various Methods to Express Concentration of a Solution:
1.Molarity (M):The no. of moles of solute present in 1 ltr of the solution.
Molarity of solution changes with change in Temp. This is due to the change in the vol. of the solution with change in Temp.
2.Molality (m):The no. of the moles of the solute dissolved / kg of the solvent.
The Molality of a solution does not change with the change in Temp.It is because the mass of the solute and solvent remains unchanged with the change in Temperature.
Mole Fraction (x):It is the ratio of the no.of moles of that component divided by the total no.of the mole of the component present in the solution.
NOTE:The sum of the moles fraction of all the component present in solution in always 1.
